Epitaxial Manager

Responsible for the management of the epitaxial growth group.  Will be responsible for developing departmental goals and objectives. Will assume direct supervision of engineers and indirect supervision of operators and technicians.  Overall accountability to ensure tasks are assigned appropriately to ensure the department meets budget expectations for each project. Will handle all personnel issues including hiring of staff, performance reviews, disciplinary action.  Will coordinate with other department heads to ensure the staff is meeting company goals, needs and priorities.

Duties:

  • Supervision of epitaxial growth group
  • Responsibility for epitaxial design of new products
  • Set department goals and objectives, communicate to staff and follow through with timely performance monitoring
  • Develop and monitor departmental budget
  • Assign tasks to staff based on skills, deadlines and availability
  • Monitor the status of projects within the department
  • Provide informal training to staff
  • Participate in design meetings
  • Establish and maintain an effective mentoring system for less experienced employees
  • Participate in the maintenance of the MBE reactors
  • Other duties as required

Skills/Qualifications:

Advanced degree in physics or electronic Engineering field. Must have several years experience with Molecular Beam Epitaxy (MBE) equipment. Experience with the use of solid source MBE to grow phosphorus containing alloys strongly preferred.  Minimum of 5 years experience in the field of opto electronics component manufacture. Management experience preferred. Must have strong verbal communication skills, with strong leadership skills and an ability to develop employees. Must be detail oriented with demonstrated ability to manage large amounts of information. Must possess creativity and strong problem solving skills. Must be computer literate.
