  • Inspect semi-conductor laser devices with microscope and document the results.
  • Perform simple electronic assembly tasks (interconnect, resistance & continuity measurement,…).
  • Perform semi-conductor laser electro-optical characterization and communicate results to the engineering staff.
  • Assemble systems with semi-conductor laser and micro optical components.
  • Define development & low volume prototype fixtures tooling for testing and assembly of micro-optics.
  • Participate to the definition of semi-conductor laser packaging.
  • Develop assembly processes and related documentation in conjunction with engineers.
  • Participate to the creation of a database.
  • Participate to the definition & design of reliability testing equipment.
  • Perform reliability tests.

Must have minimum of 5 years hands-on experience with precision opto-mechanical assembly, test and characterization of laser diode components and systems. Must interact with Program Manager, engineers, technicians, process engineers and develop understanding of semi-conductor lasers fabrication processes. Must be highly creative for fixtures and tooling definition/ design. Must have ability for problem solving and for finding solution.

Associates degree in optics, opto-electronics or similar field highly preferred. Familiarity with MS Excel, MS Access, MS Word and PowerPoint desirable. Experience with laser diode diagnostic equipment desirable (beam measurement cameras, oscilloscopes, photo diodes, power supplies, TEC controllers, and spectrometers). Good verbal and written communication skills – ability to graph data and prepare reports. Detail oriented – maintain meticulous records. Be able to work independently with minimal supervision. Job requires extended periods of inspection through an optical microscope. Should be able to work fully gowned for 8 hours in a clean room environment.
