Desktop Support Specialist

Entry level position in the Information Technology organization. Under the general direction of the IT Manager will provide basic support of computer systems, including hardware and software. Will provide direct support to the user community in person or over the phone/remote desktop to resolve issues and/or guide the user to an effective solution. Will maintain company workstations to include configuration management, patching, and analysis and resolution of problems. Will be able to realize when problems need to be elevated to higher levels.

  • Ongoing maintenance of the computer systems, both hardware and software to ensure proper operation.
  • Manage inventory tracking of workstations and installed software.
  • Diagnose and repair computer hardware, load and maintain software following a set of specific guidelines for consistency.
  • Document/update IT procedures and system guidelines as necessary.
  • Document all computer repair and software installations.
  • Roll out new computers and maintain the current system images.
  • Provide Desktop PC support to end user community as part of the Lasertel Help Desk staff.                                

Work Environment/Physical Requirements

Primarily work in office and clean room environments, which may include extensive keyboard and CRT screen exposure. Occasional work on the manufacturing floor where wearing of clean room attire is required and there may be exposure to fumes and noise. Some heavy lifting – must be able to lift 80 lbs.



Minimum 2 years’ experience in MS technologies to include Windows XP/7/8.1/10 and Windows 2008/2012 Server.

Experience with MS Office 2010, Internet Explorer, Firefox required.

Knowledge of network fundamentals in a GB Ethernet network to include basic connectivity and a basic understanding of routers and switches. Formal training desirable.

Must be organized, a self-starter and must have ability to prioritize work. Good written/verbal communication skills.

Must be able to read and write English fluently.
