As the use of lasers in a variety of markets continues to increase, we find ourselves on the road, meeting more and more innovative teams exploring the emerging laser markets for applications such as directed energy, automotive lidar, and direct diode heating.
So, what's next on our list? Within the next couple months, you can expect to see a few of our team members at many directed energy and defense shows. After another strong growth year for the laser market, the need for laser-based weapons and solutions for the military continues to grow. In 2018, there was a substantial increase in military related laser revenue and projections for 2019 show continued growth (SPIE). Leonardo has been on the forefront of this innovation and continues to remain active in the conversations regarding laser systems, specifically directed energy adoption.
